Lately, my one-stop shop for all things trendy footwear has been ShoeDazzle.com. This website is the perfect place for totally fashionable shoes that don't break the bank! My most recent purchase? Dubbed the "Cathy" sandal, these shoes are my next big obsession. The low, chunky heels were everywhere on the Spring runways and I figured the faux-snakeskin pattern would add a nice dash of spice to any outfit! Can't wait to take them for a spin! Until Next Time!
M. Hi, I'm Marit and I'm a makeup addict. When it comes to buying makeup, there are only a few items for which I feel the need to splurge, like my Urban Decay Naked Palette for instance. Otherwise, you'll find me at the drugstore. There's just nothing like finding an item that's comparable to a high-end brand, but which costs a third of the price. And although I have many drugstore makeup favorites, these are my 8 holy grail items that I find myself going to time and time again! Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser, $7 This primer reminds me a lot of the favorited Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. A little goes a long way with this product and it lasts all day. Really does a nice job with getting rid of pores and keeping your skin looking flawlessly smooth-- A favorite for sure! Maybelline Colossal Cat Eyes Mascara, $8 Love this mascara; It elongates your eyes lashes without making them look clumpy. Plus, the mascara wand is curved which makes the application process that much easier. Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss, $8 This lipgloss in the shade 'Bellini' is one of my all time favorite beauty buys. It's the perfect pinkish-nude color that leaves your lips glossy, but not shimmery. It's not sticky and the application is as easy as pie. One swipe and I'm out the door! Covergirl Outlast 3-in-1 Foundation, $12 This foundation applies like butter and offers great coverage that lasts all day...a must buy! Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush, $8 This blush may look small, but this little container can last for months! The color I have--Blush Rose Petal-- is the perfect pink shade. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick, $7 One of my all time favorites lipsticks is this one in the shade Pink Velvet. It's super natural, but just pink enough to make your lips pop! Rimmel London Natural Bronzer, $6 I'm not a big fan of sparkly bronzers, but rather prefer a more matte, natural look. This bronzer is an excellent color (not too orange) and gives the illusion of a glowing summer tan. Maybelline Line Stiletto Liquid Eyeliner, $9 Applying liquid eyeliner was always the most difficult part of my makeup routine before buying this product. Application is seriously a cinch and the eyeliner stays put all day long!! What are some of your guys' drugstore makeup favorites? Leave a comment! Until Next Time!
M. So seeing as though every other post on Girl on the Verge right now seems to be a "Tuesday's Tumbles", I have decided to post pics from my Tumblr every other Tuesday starting after this week. I think that way I can get some more regular posts on here without bombarding you guys with too many pictures. Hope all is well, and enjoy! Until Next Time!
M. Just yesterday I was leafing through my DVR, trying to find something, anything that seemed the slightest bit entertaining on a Saturday at two in the afternoon. After what seemed like endless hours of scrolling through some of my dad's car shows and old Saturday Night Live re-runs, I finally found it. There sitting at the bottom of my DVR was my saving grace: an episode of Sex and the City. Now being only seventeen years old, I never really understood the world's infatuation with the show when I was younger. It wasn't only until last year when I watched my first episode (I think it was the one where Carrie walks, and falls, in that fashion show), that my love for Sex and the City truly began. I mean how could I not love Sex and the City--it has everything! Friendship, love, and one can't forget the AMAZING fashion. And I'm totally fine with admitting to the fact that I have like the biggest girl-crush on Carrie Bradshaw (it's whatever). I also know that I'm going out on a limb here by saying this, but Carrie's fashion in Sex and the City is one of the best parts of that show. It's just so different and unique; the girl seriously knows how to have fun with fashion. And if you haven't seen The Carrie Diaries, a show that highlights Bradshaw's life as a teen growing up in Connecticut, I highly suggest it! It's target audience is geared more towards teenagers, and it's easily relatable since the stuff they talk about/Carrie's dilemmas are things that hit more closely to home, more so than some of the stuff on Sex and the City. Anyways, I was feeling a little bit of Carrie inspiration today so I wanted to share with you guys some of my favorite looks of hers throughout the series. Maybe I'll do an "inspired by" post where I wear and post outfits inspired by Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha's style! (Sorry a lot of these pictures are pixelated since they're about a decade old) Until Next Time!
M. Oh the Oscars, how I adore thee. Just seeing all of the amazing starlets in their gorgeous designer dresses reminds me of the golden age of Hollywood cinema, where elegance and style ruled the world. I'm kinda embarrassed though as to how much time I take out of my day to watch/prepare myself for the Oscars. Like I'm that girl who starts watching E!'s "Before the Red Carpet" show starting at 3:00 pm, then I watch the actual red carpet, then the Oscars, and I finish up my night by watching E!'s "After the Oscars/After-Party Special" (if you can't tell I'm a little obsessed with E!--Giuliana Rancic is my home girl). The Oscars were a hit per usual, and Ellen blew the freaking roof off the place. But of course we must talk about Sunday night's red carpet, as it was filled with jaw-dropping creations. Let's get into it!! This women is not from this earth. This dress was by far my favorite of the night; the powder blue looked so pretty against her skin tone (but let's face it what color doesn't look pretty against her silky skin). I love that she didn't overdue it with the gold accessories, and that headband...can we just take a minute. That headband is so precious; It's so feminine and really pulls the whole look together. LOVE HER. I hope to goodness that I look this great when I'm older. Kate stunned in this old-Hollywood Versace gown. That side-swept hair with that beautiful shoulder-covering cape...bellissima! I have to say, although Naomi wasn't nominated for anything, and therefore didn't overdue it with her dress selection, I thought she was one of the most beautiful women on the red carpet Sunday evening. Her white sparkly Calvin Klein number with that super cool, angular necklace, and the red lip was ah-mazing. Plus that stylish flipped hairstyle was so young and fresh. Seriously one of my favs. Sandra looked so elegant and sophisticated in this beautiful navy McQueen gown. The minimal jewelry and lovely makeup/hair only added to the look. Plus you just gotta love Sandra, she just seems like she would be the best person to hang out with. Hope you enjoyed.
