1. Denim is in this season and what better way to try out the trend than this cool jumpsuit?
2. Lately I've been trying to up my swimsuit game, and I'm sure this J.Crew piece will do just the trick! This swimsuit reminds me of Greece for some reason, which may be why I like it so much.
3. This is the perfect hat to protect me from the hot summer sun.
4. Looking for a cool new pair of sunglasses? Try this pair. Only $24.95!
5. I need this beach bag (and it's 30% off right now!).
6. Old Navy has had a killer shoe selection recently. I'll take these, these, and these please!
Well it's beginning to be that time of the year again-- the weather is starting to get a little nicer, the trees and flowers are starting to bloom, and my thoughts are beginning to turn to my spring/summer wardrobe. Above are just a few pieces that I've been coveting most this spring and summer, and hope that I actually get around to purchasing instead of just leaving them in my online shopping cart!

Do you guys have a spring/summer wardrobe wishlist? What's on it?
I'd love to hear!!

Until Next Time!

5 Ways a Silk Scarf can Expand your Closet

4/9/2015

Happy Friday everyone! It's safe to say that this week has been a fairly hectic one for me, seeing as though I posted the last "Tuesday's Tumbles" on a Wednesday instead of a Tuesday (whoops!). I sure am looking forward to the weekend and maybe some spring cleaning?

Today I wanted to talk to you guys about 5 ways that a silk scarf can rejuvenate your closet. I am a big big fan of the silk scarf a) because they feel/look so luxurious and b) because there are so many ways that you can use them to change up your wardrobe. Also, I feel like there's something very ladylike about a silk scarf that often reminds me of the classic styles of ladies in the 50s and 60s. So without further adieu, here are my top 5 tips for integrating silk scarfs into your everyday wardrobe.
1.) Wear it as a purse accessory!

This is one of my favorite ways to wear my silk scarves because I think it adds such character and individuality to my bag-of-choice. I especially like to wear one on the straps of my Longchamp, because I feel like everyone and their mother has this bag, so it really makes it feel more personal.

2.) Wear it around your neck.

Whenever I wear a scarf around my neck is when I really feel like a glamourous Hollywood star of the 1950s. This style is so classic that you really can't go wrong.

3.) Wear it in your hair.

With a longer silk scarf, I like to fold it in on itself and then tie it around my head like a headband. This acts as a unique alternative to other hair accessories and is also a great way to integrate the popular 1970s trend that seems to be everywhere right now.

4.) Wear it as a bracelet.

This way of styling a silk scarf always reminds me of Leandra Medine from the blog Man Repeller. It's such a fun way to switch up your bracelet game, offering more uniqueness than your average bangle.

5.) Wear it as a necklace.

Wearing a silk scarf a bit slouchier around your neck acts as the perfect accessory to any relaxed outfit, taking your look from basic to LA chic in just a few seconds!

Do you know of any other great ways to wear a silk scarf?
I would love to hear your suggestions!

The Month of No Blogging

4/7/2015

So as I promised in yesterday's post, today I want to share with you guys the reason as to why I took about a month off of blogging, and I also wanted to update you guys as to what I've been doing in that time period!

There were actually a multitude of reasons why I wasn't able to post as much as I'd like to this past month. Not only did my homework amount feel like it doubled this semester (a secret they don't tell you about the second semester of your senior year of high school), but both (and I mean both!) of our house laptops broke and/or we accidentally broke their chargers. Talk about bad luck. It's safe to say that this made posting here on Girl on the Verge a little more difficult than normal.

Yet despite the increased homework load and my family's failing computers, I think the most prominent reason why I took a brief pause in my blogging was the fact that-- to be completely honest-- I felt lost. What I mean by this is that in these past few months, I felt like my main goal in blogging was to increase my number of readers. I felt like I needed to write to increase the number of people reading my blog, and in turn I felt like I wasn't being as creative as I was when I first started Girl on the Verge. I started to feel like I was losing my voice; I was sounding like a lot of the bloggers that I follow (and love) instead of sounding like myself in order to get a couple of more readers. But what I learned from this month off is how crazy that actually is!

In retrospect, I'm actually happy that I was able to take a month off of blogging because it made me remember the very important reason that I started this blog in the first pace. It reminded me that blogging is not about how many readers you have, or how many followers you have on Instagram, but rather is about creatively expressing your unique voice and sharing that voice with others; connecting with or supporting people who have similar and different voices alike, all while staying true to yourself-- that's the reason I want to blog.

In the time since my last blog post, not much has happened except me getting closer to finishing up my senior year of high school-- only 7 weeks left! I have not yet decided what college I will be attending next fall (I only have about a month left to decide-- yikes!), and although I didn't go anywhere over spring break, I did enjoy a nice relaxing stay-cation. That's pretty much it!

I know this is a longer blog post and I'm sorry for throwing all of this at you guys-- I honestly don't know if I'm writing this for you guys or myself more-- but I just wanted to let you know my thoughts and how I was feeling. I must say that I really can't wait to write more posts for Girl on the Verge!

Please stay tuned for more blog posts to come, and lastly I must also say how thankful and grateful I am that you  have continued reading and have stayed up-to-date with my blog. It really means so much!!

Until Next Time!
M.
