Girl on the Verge Turns 1!

Today is a very special day, as it marks the fact that it's been exactly one year since I've started Girl on the Verge! I cannot even believe that I've been writing on this little blog for a year, and it's pretty crazy how vividly I remember this day last year when I wrote my very first post on Girl on the Verge. I recall it took me around four hours to write my first post (I'm totally serious), because a) I'm a very indecisive person and b) I wanted to make sure I created the perfect introduction for my blog. Most of all, I remember feeling so excited about the upcoming year and being able to express myself on this blog-- one year later and those same feelings haven't changed. I can honestly say that Girl on the Verge has allowed me a creative outlet for which I'm extremely grateful, and that has made this past year so fun and fulfilling.

Most of all I want to thank all of you guys who have kept in touch with Girl on the Verge, have commentated on my posts, and have checked out Girl on the Verge's other social media sites. I love hearing from you guys, and I'm so thankful for every single one of you.

Thanks for a great year, and here's to a fantastic 2015!

Until Next Time!

Hello all of my Girl on the Verge readers!! Well, it's officially the first of January which means that the holiday season is now over (enter sad face emoji here). I had a super fun, super busy holiday season which started off with me leaving for Door County, Wisconsin with my family (and Goose, our German Short-haired Pointer puppy) as a little mini trip before Christmas. It was nice to take a relaxing vacation up north, especially since there was some snow on the ground in Door County.

We arrived back home on the 22nd of December and the next day my sister, cousin and I all went to our grandmother's house to make my grandma's special pecan crescent cookies (they are #ah-mazing). Christmas was a blast, and my favorite present that I received by far was my iPhone 6. I promise I'm not trying to brag at all, but this new phone is a serious upgrade from my old Samsung Galaxy 2 whose overall quality left something to be desired. I'm most excited to be able to take better photos (specifically on Instagram) for Girl on the Verge, since my new phone's camera is like a million times better than my old phone. Finally, New Years Eve was also a relaxing time spent at home with the family. We watched One Direction on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve (because of course), and had a nice New Years day brunch this afternoon. All in all, a holiday season well spent.

How was your holiday season?
I'd love to hear from you!!

Until Next Time!

Chanel's Short Film: Reincarnation

A couple of days ago the new, and highly anticipated short film entitled "Reincarnation" staring Pharrell and Cara Delevingne (and not to mention directed by the one and only Karl Lagerfeld) came out! I knew that I needed to share it with you guys as it soon as I saw it, as it is a fashion/pop culture lover's dream. Cara, Pharrell, singing, dancing, and Coco Chanel-- what could be better?

Enjoy and happy Wednesday!

Well folks, Thanksgiving is now over which means that my full attention has officially been turned to Christmas!! Ugh this time of year is the best. Over the Thanksgiving break, I had a lot of family from out of town come visit, and the question that seemed to be recurring was, "Marit, what do you want for Christmas?" Normally, I have a whole list of things that I desperately want, but this year I noticed that my list has been more sparse. One thing I'm really coveting though is Barbour's Beadnell jacket. Everytime I see this jacket on Instagram, Tumblr, or on other blogs, I feel myself wanting it in my wardrobe even more than I had initally. Plus, I think it'll be a greatly used jacket next year as I head off to college! Above are Mackenzie, Carly, and Sarah (some of my three favorite bloggers) sporting the coveted jacket.

What's on your Christmas list?
I'd love to know!!

Until Next Time!

Outfit: Thanksgiving Dinner

I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving yesterday! I enjoyed the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (#ofcourse), and stuffed my face full with turkey, cranberry sauce, and this delicious brussels sprout dish my aunt makes (I know, you're probably thinking eww brussels sprouts, but I swear it's ah-mazing).

Above is the outfit that I wore to Thanksgiving dinner, and all I have to say is that I'm in love with this blue J.Crew sweater! My aunt (different aunt-- not brussels sprouts aunt) got it for me for my birthday and I can't stop wearing it. Also, I had to use my dad's iPhone to take these pictures because my DLSR camera was out of battery, so the pictures are a bit blurry (sorry), and totally don't do the sweater justice.

How was your Thanksgiving?
I'd love to hear from you!

Until Next Time!

First of all I want to start out by saying...HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

I know it's been almost a week since my last post, and I am extremely sorry about that. I've definitely missed posting these past few days on Girl on the Verge, but this week has been a whirlwind of tests, projects, and more tests (teachers just want to cram as much work in as possible before the Thanksgiving break-- don't you hate that?). Anyway, I'm glad to be back  and done with all of my hectic school work. I just wanted to check in with you guys and tell you to stay tuned for some exciting upcoming posts-- you can expect a Thanksgiving OOTD and an everyday makeup post in the near future! I truly hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with laughs and delicious food (I can't wait for some stuffing and mashed potatoes myself!!), and make sure to check in tomorrow!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Until Next Time!

As it becomes colder and colder the closer we get to winter (it has literally been 15 degrees for the past few days #nothankyou), I've been looking for a better way to still look cute while staying warm in the freezing temperatures. Cue the fur!! Lately I've been loving faux-fur as a way to still look chic and stay warm, all at the same time! Above I've included some of my favorite faux-fur looks from Pinterest, that I hope will offer you some style inspiration as the weather begins to plunge further and further!

Would you wear the faux fur look?

Do They Know It's Christmas?

11/18/2014

With the Christmas season around the corner, one song that I always look forward to is "Do They Know It's Christmas?" This song was originally made in 1984 to raise money for relief for the 1983-85 famine in Ethiopia, and included a handful of British singers including Sting and Bono. This year, the song was re-recorded by the famous British singers of today to raise money and awareness for the widespread Ebola epidemic in West Africa. Whichever holiday you choose to celebrate, I think it's crucial that we also think about those in need this time of year.

To donate and help put an end to the Ebola epidemic, you can buy this song on iTunes here!

Until Next Time!
